Aside from the March Cheltenham Festival, there are many other events at the Racecourse.  Some of the bigger meetings include the November Meeting, the New Year’s Day meeting and a whole range of meetings in October and April will keep any crowd entertained.

Nevertheless, it is always the Cheltenham Festival that is marked on everyone’s jump racing calendar.

The four-day extravaganza takes in over 200,000 people ready for a racing spectacle. The Cheltenham Racecourse never disappoints. Furthermore, a 2016 £45 Million redevelopment programme has brought the facility into a new level of prestige and magnificence.  Having improved the grandstand facilities in
recent years, the building not only features state-of-the art architecture but also wonderful hospitality for Cheltenham Festival.

The home of jump racing’s new grandstand and surrounding Parade Ring, restaurant and other facilities was officially opened by Princess Anne herself. The Princess Royal Stand was named especially for her as of this, and retains this name today.

This new addition to the Cheltenham Racecourse took 19 months of construction to complete, but it is safe to say it was worth the
wait. The magnificent grandstand gives racegoers the opportunity to enjoy all-new bars and pristine viewing facilities. That’s not to mention the new Royal Box adding an element of majesty to the proceedings.

Princess Anne is a known fan of horse racing, and lives only a short drive away, still in Gloucestershire.  The Queen is also a fan of racing, and has attended Cheltenham in the past, and has been known to place a fair few successful bets in her time.  The Cambridges, William and Kate, have also been spotted at Cheltenham in the past.

Often, the Royals attend Cheltenham Racecourse without notice, and will end up mingling incognito with the crowds, hoping to avoid being spotted.  Princess Anne is known to do this especially, having done so at Cheltenham events in the past.

There have been many other members of the Royal Family who have attended Jockey Club meetings.  These include Prince Phillip, Prince Charles, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.  Zara Tindall, the Queen’s eldest grandchild,
won the Eventing World Championships, so is understandably a big fan of equestrian sports and has attended a large number of horse racing events in the past.

The numerous floors of the new stand at Cheltenham Racecourse  are filled to the brim with entertainment and exclusive hospitality features.  Entering from the ground, you are greeted with the Vestey Bar - named after Lord Vestey who was chairman of Cheltenham for 21 years. Let’s not forget a brand new bistro feature providing hot food toCheltenham festival hospitality guests. Moving upwards, the first floor of the new stand provides a bar for Annual Members. Also on the first floor is the Big Buck’s Champagne Bar, named after the horse that won an unparalleled four Stayers Hurdles – a huge achievement which is recognised duly by the Jockey Club.

Going further, the second floor consists of an Owners & Trainers Bar, with a balcony giving a perfect view of the surrounding course area plus the exclusive Cotswolds Club. The third floor delivers The Royal Box and 11 private boxes – for those wishing to have a full VIP experience.

Finally, the top floor gives you The Cheltenham Club. Members are allocated a table for the National Hunt season, from which to enjoy a four course, lunch and sensational views of the surrounding hills. There is a reason why Cheltenham Racecourse is so popular.
