Set in the beautiful surrounds of Oxfordshire Countryside, Henely-on-Thames is a stunning venue for any event. It truly comes into its own with regular rowing activity, which boats some of the finest hospitality and VIP experiences.
Henley-on-Thames is the home of the world’s most famous regatta. Set in the Oxfordshire countryside, but very near to both Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, Henley is a beautiful English market town steeped in history.
Henley-on-Thames is best known for the Henley Royal Regatta, an annual celebration of traditional British sport and the most luxurious offerings in hospitality experiences.
In the minds of regular visitors to the town, Henley is a little paradise. With a population of only eleven thousand, the haven is close enough to London for a day break from the city, but far enough away to be an entirely different world from the hustle and bustle of the capital. Henley, unsurprisingly, is home to a large number of hotels and B&B's, as well as restaurants and cafe's who serve both locals and tourists to Henley.
Henley is a town with two different worlds inside it. During the Henley Regatta, it's lively and vibrant. Full of visiting trade, food stalls and musicians. Visit the same streets any other week of the year and it still has it's English charm, but becomes more easy-going and quietly tranquil.
A day on the riverfront during Regatta Week means socialising in the most peaceful and luxurious surrounds of hospitality suites, while witnessing the thrills of a host of international rowing stars compete for some of the most coveted prizes in sculling and sweep rowing. It means five-star receptions and four-course luncheons in luxury marquees scattered across fields near the peaceful town.
As well as the Royal Regatta, Henley also plays host to many other rowing events, including Henley Women's Regatta. Also on the Thames at Henley are the Henley Boat Races for teams from Oxford and Cambridge Universities. Henley Town and Visitors Regatta is an annual one-day event run associated with Henley Rowing Club and uses the same course as the Royal Regatta, but with the notable difference that three boats race simultaneously, as opposed to two.
While these are the main events in the town, other popular Henley rowing events include:
