Whatever day you are deciding to attend an enjoyable day is guaranteed. To make the day run even more smoothly we have put together a guide on all you need to know for your Grand National visit.

Dress Code
There is no official dress code for Aintree Racecourse. However it does state that smart wear is preferred and often opted for. There are some restrictions though. Sportswear, fancy dress and trainers are not permitted at Grand National.

Aintree Ladies Day is the most stylish of the three days. With style and fashion being a huge focal point of the days events. Ladies and Gentleman wear their best outfits throughout the Grand National Festival.

Think about how you are going to get to Grand National and planning ahead is vitally important. If you are thinking of catching to the train to Aintree this is by far the most favoured mode of transport. You can catch a direct to train to Aintree station from Liverpool Lime Street. Be prepared for busy trains though!

If you live a little closer then there's bus transportation also. From Liverpool you can catch the bus to Aintree on a range of bus routes including: 300, 311, 345, 350 and 351.

For those a little further afield you may prefer to drive to the great Liverpool city. For Sat Nav users use the postcode L9 5AS and you will find Aintree Racecourse off Ormskirk Road. Parking needs to be booked in advanced. Most of the VIP hospitality packages will include some form of parking.

The Grand National welcomes racing enthusiasts and newbies to the sport. So it is important if you are not as familiar with racing to get clued on the lingo. This will help you to make the right bets on the horses. Here are a few key phrases you should know:

Each-Way Bet: A wager consisting of two separate bets: a win bet and a place bet. This offers insurance for the person betting. For you to make a return on the place bet they must come 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

Handicap: A race where each horse is assigned a different weight to carry. The idea is that all horses should run on a fair and equal basis.

Odds on: Odds where the winnings are less than the stake.

On the nose: betting on a horse to only win.
