So, get dressed to impress and remember - it's never too early to get your wardrobe in order.

Class, elegance, and style. All guests at Royal Ascot should exude nothing less than sophistication with the finest clothing choices. Your apparel should radiate the glamour and fashion that is Royal Ascot – just what horse racing is all about.

Here at Compare Hospitality, we’ve complied a dress code guide to help you do just that in plenty of time!

But First, What to Expect?

This Royal Ascot 2019 (Tuesday 18th June until Saturday 22nd June) is guaranteed to see a multitude of folks come together to enjoy a lively atmosphere, fine dining hospitality and a number of horse racing fixtures. What more could you ask for on a fine summer’s eve?

With the tables laid, the horses trained, and the jockeys set; all that’s left is for you to decide your garments. But before you decide, make sure to get familiar with Royal Ascot’s firm yet impressive dress code.

With a code certain to craft your style, why wouldn’t you want to follow it?

‘Fashion and style are an integral part of the Royal Ascot experience.’

Thus said Ascot Racecourse’s Juliet Slot and she is exactly right.

Though they have slightly different dress codes and style guides, the four enclosures have common rules all attendants should abide by.

Namely, brochure, fancy dress, novelty and branded or promotional clothing are prohibited on site. However, overseas visitors and military personnel follow a different rule.

The Royal Enclosure

Ladies, ladies, ladies – ensure that your dresses and skirts are modest in length, i.e. falling just above your knee or longer. Any dresses and tops should have straps which are at least an inch or more.

For those of us who don’t desire to wear dresses and skirts, trouser suits or trendy jumpsuits are a statement alternative. However ladies, ensure they are full length and are of matching material. Think co-ord, always.

And lastly, hats should be worn however headpieces are acceptable as a notable alternative.

Stay clear of bardot, spaghetti, off the shoulder, strapless and all the like tops ladies. Keep midriffs well covered and avoid fascinators or headpieces without a solid base covering at least 10cm of the head.

Gentlemen – keep it classy with either a black or grey morning dress. Prepare your waistcoat and tie, top hot, and black shoes. Please avoid customising your top hats with coloured ribbons or bands. Remember, simplicity and elegance are often synonymous!

Queen Anne Enclosure

Ladies, ‘dress to impress’ as though you’re attending a distinct and formal occasion. Likewise, a hat or headpiece should be worn at all times, within this enclosure however fascinators are allowed.

Again, strapless or sheer dresses and tops and shorts should be avoided.

Gents, you are required to be in a full-length suit with matching jacket and trousers paired with a crisp shirt and tie. Bow ties and cravats are still not accepted and trainers should simply be shunned at Ascot.

Village Enclosure

Ladies, consider the guidelines for the Queen Anne Enclosure, but before choosing your hat sizes and shoes, remember the Village Enclosure is predominantly an outdoor area. Therefore we highly recommend smaller hat sizes and trendy yet comfortable wedges instead of potentially painful stilettos.

Noblemen, jeans and trainers are far from Ascot worthy, therefore avoid these and keep it tasteful in your jacket, full-length trousers, collared shirt and tie. Specifically, bow ties and cravats are not permitted.

Windsor Enclosure

All guests in this enclosure are to dress as though attending a fine, formal occasion.

Ladies, we recommend you wear smart attire along the lines of those previously listed before. And, gents, we advise an attractive jacket and shirt paired with long trousers.

Bringing the Children Along?

Don’t fear. Keep your younger ones just as stunning, dressing them in accordance to the Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s dress code. Smart, opulent and well presented.
